Here I am, having my first taste on the world of blogging and wondering what to write.......
I've got it! I'm gonna write about the 2 most precious things in my life right now.
All day long, I've been thinking about the 2 kittens which I brought home last Tuesday. I found them as a response to a request I posted on FaceBook asking for any donor of kittens. The whole affair ended up in a surprising manner with me making friends with a whole new family who happen to live in Rajagiriya. They had a large family of 8 cats in their house and the 3 new born kittens were making things worse for them. I brought home 2 of them (I left behind the 3rd and the prettiest kitten to keep company for its Mommy).
The Cab service driver was advising me all along the journey to not to adopt kittens as their fur causes breathing problems and various other diseases. To make matters worse my father hates cats and both my mother and I have 'wheeze' to a certain extent. Nevertheless, my desire to adopt these baby cats was far more greater than those which were against it. I could see my mom was actually thrilled to have them at our house too as they were so adorable and resembled two human babies in their actions(Although she openly didn't admit it and let my father scold me for bringing them home). I promised to keep them out of my dad's eyes as much as possible for he couldn't bear to have cats around the house (He's not an animal-hater actually. He prefers dogs as they have some value in protecting the house.Cats are just disgusting creatures to him). So now the kittens are kept in my room whenever dad is around (Hopefully, he'll get used to them.Afterall, he has no option at this point.. :) ).
For the past week, these adorable creatures have made my life busy with all kinds of work. They have to be fed around 4 times daily and keeping them out of mischief is the biggest task there ever was. Climbing seems to be their favourite pastime apart from having cat-fights and sleeping. The 2 kittens climb anything they can find, including our legs where they seem to have no idea of why we scream with pain. The funny thing is they are only active when someone is around. Else both of them lay idle. It's almost as if they are performing their acts only for dispaly purposes(cunning animals!!). However, they have managed to fill the space I had in my life for a certain extent, since our beloved dog of 14 years(Sindy) died last March.
The only mistake I did when promising to take these kittens was, not imagining the possibility of a job opportunity so soon. For the past couple of months I was at home after the internship at Virtusa, thinking of adopting a pet but with none to find. And finally, when I got the pet, I was having the chance for a working experience as well (Funny life!!). Therefore as all the troubles in our home, the responsibilty of adopting these 2 new members will happen to lie upon my mom's shoulders too. I miss my kittens actually; I am sad to leave them in the morning. But, missing them makes it all the more sweeter to go home and see them in the evening. So Im happy!!
P.S.:- I still have not named the kittens. I have no idea what to call them. Do cats understand names?? That's one thing which bothers me yet....
